Work Outfits!?

Lately I have been drawn to black and white! Maybe it is my new black and white Springer Spaniel? This is one of the outfits that I wore to work this week.

Kate Spade Jubilee Striped Piper Skirt, J.Crew Jackie Cardigan, Target T-Shirt and Kate Spade Chris shoes.

What's Black and White... and Red All Over?

It's me! This is my outfit for going out for a casual dinner with my husband's family last weekend. My outfit is comprised of: Black J.Crew cashmere cardigan, Kate Spade Abigail Must Love Dots Blouse, Gap Slim Cropped pants, J.Crew ballet flats, and Chanel Cerf Tote.

I noticed that many bloggers are commenting on the various incarnations of the "cropped" pant. I had my heart set on getting a pair in red and tried on several before purchasing the Gap slim cropped pant. Since I read various blog reviews about these pants, I thought I would offer a review of my own. Overall, these pants fit true to size, maybe a little big. I am wearing a size 2 in these pants. My normal size is a 2-4. They do seem to stretch a little bit after the first wear and given this I may have been able to size down to a 0. I also considered purchasing the J.Crew Minnie in a similar reddish orange color but the fit was not quite right and they also looked too much like leggings and not enough like pants for my taste.

My Kate Spade Abigail blouse was truly a hit amongst all generations of my husband's family. It proved to be quite a conversation piece!

Elagant Easy Appetizers

I figured since this blog is suppose to be about all of the things I love, food included, I should share some recipes. I haven't had a lot of time for cooking lately between going to work and the puppy, so here are some past simple appetizer recipes that I highly recommend.

The first could not be any simpler. To make these mini mozzarella, tomato and basil skewers simply get a toothpick. Place the cherry tomato on toothpick with a small piece of basil and the mozzarella ball. I used tomatoes from my garden last summer to make these and they were delicious! I also recommend purchasing the marinated mozzarella balls to add some flavor. When you are done assembling drizzle with a little olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette and you're done!

The second appetizer I simply call "Jacques Pepin Rolls." The reason? Because I got the idea from my all time favorite chef in the whole world, Jacques Pepin! It may be hard to see from the picture, but these are zucchini, cream cheese and salmon rolls. Simply shave zucchini with a vegetable peeler, place a strip of salmon on top, then spread some whipped cream cheese over the salmon. The cream cheese will bind it together. Sprinkle with a dash of pepper and roll! I place the rolls on elegant water crackers. In this picture I cut up baby carrots for some color in my plating of this appetizer. My husband loves these! I don't know how they taste because I don't eat any kind of fish, but according to him they're great!

Meet William!

We traveled thousands of miles to get him from a breeder in Kentucky. He is an English Springer Spaniel. Did you know that his great great granddaddy won Best in Show at Westminster in 1993? His full name is Colonel William van Winkle the Bard of Bardstown. It is a mouthful, right? We just call him William for short, which is fine by him.

You might be wondering how we devised such a name? Well, my husband ordered Pappy van Winkle bourbon at the Saint Charles Exchange in Louisville. We jokingly said that this was what we would name our dog after this. Later, when visiting Bardstown to pick up William we learned some of the history behind the quaint and lovely town. The founder of Bardstown was a gentleman by the name of William Bard. Given this, the name William just seemed to stick. So we replaced Pappy with William. Since William is also the name of William Shakespeare, we decided that he was a bard...get it?! And the colonel? Well that just sounded cool and southern.

Kentucky Style

Last week we went to Kentucky to adopt our new furry baby! We stayed at the historic Seelbach hotel in Louisville. Tom and Daisy were married at the Seelbach in the novel The Great Gatsby. It is a lovely hotel with a grand staircase which will make you feel like you stepped back in time.

Above is what I wore to dinner at the Seelbach's exquisite Oak Room Restaurant: J.Crew Mirabel dress and cashmere cardigan with Louboutin Simple pumps in nude.

An Introduction to my Style

Here are some past outfits which demonstrate my personal style. My likes (as you can see from the pics) include, but are not limited to: bright colors, polka-dots, stripes, patterns and anything that is fun and quirky. I love the idea of clothing as wearable art and I try to reflect this in the way I dress!

These are a few pics which I have already taken to demonstrate my personal style!
