Gingham and Eyelet

Last fall I blogged about my realization that some of the shirts and pencil skirts that I purchased years ago were a bit more snug than I had previously remembered. A few months ago I finally decided to "purge" my closet by going through and trying on every button-down shirt I owned for fit. While this was no small task, it did prove helpful in weeding out a few shirts for which there was no hope of wearing again (and making a few extra bucks reselling them) and also finding some shirts such as this one that I had forgotten about.

This purple and white gingham shirt was a bit snug and in my "maybe" pile. However, I found that even though there is some slight "gaping" it's nothing that a white camisole can't fix. Since purple is my favorite color I am glad that it ended up being a keeper. To play up the color I paired it today with a pink eyelet skirt and floral heels.

  1. Hi Katie,

I'm queen of the white cami under blouses because they often gape open...cute, cute and cute again.

    1. Thanks Kim! The colors were actually sort of an accident. The shirt was in a big pile of things I had just washed and when I got the skirt I put it in that pile of things to hang up. When I saw the two together I thought, "why not give it a try?"

  5. This is such a happy outfit with the pink and purple combo! If the gape bothers you, you could always use a small white safety pin. Just make sure the part with head/clasp is on the inside of the shirt. I use this trick all the time (busty problems) and no one can even tell, it just lays smooth.

    1. Thanks Alice! Yes, I am very fond of colors, lots of color! Closet purging is never fun, but it feels good afterwards. Plus, it makes me cut back on shopping because I realize how much I have and don't need any more. Have a nice weekend!
