It's a Plaid, Plaid, Plaid, Plaid World

It's that time of the year again when I madly get all of my plaid out of the closet and rush to wear it all within the week before Christmas. Plaid doesn't necessarily have to be just for Christmas, but certain styles and color patterns just seem to scream "Christmas" and really seem out of place after New Year's Day. I bought this plaid shirt-dress last December during a trip to Las Vegas at Brooks Brothers. I had been coveting it for quite a while, so when I saw it on the clearance rack I snatched it up before the sales associate, who seemed to also be contemplating buying it for herself, could get it. (Sorry if that's sort of "Grinchy", but I am pretty competitive when it comes to fashion!) I knew that the dress was going to be a strictly seasonal item due to the colors of the plaid, but I figured it would be fun to wear once a year for the holidays, which is just what I'm doing today!

To play up the Christmas aspects of the plaid, I paired it with bow tights and a little bit of gold. I just got this new gold purse from Kate Spade last week and even though it is a mini bag, it does fit my wallet, phone and makeup just perfectly. It was sort of like an early Christmas gift from me, to me!

You might notice that the place where I took these photos looks like a little cabin out in the snow, but it's actually a restaurant called North Woods Inn, a small chain in Los Angeles . I've written about this restaurant several times before in my blog because I go there a lot, mostly because of their incredible cheese bread. The restaurant, which features faux snow capped roofs and a log cabin aesthetic is the perfect place to go and celebrate the holidays clad in a plaid dress!

  1. I just love it! And the tights are too precious too! Okay, maybe it sounds grinchy of me, but I always think it's better that a customer get an item than an employee of the retailer. (And this comes from someone who worked in retail clothing many moons ago.) You can also look at it like this...she was at work before you came into the store; if she was meant to buy it, she would have before you came in that day. There you go. ;-) Merry Christmas, Katie!

    1. Yes, I think gold and plaid is such a pretty combo for Christmas! The tights are my favorites for the holidays, but I need to find a new pair because these are getting a little worn.

  5. Though I own a couple of plaid shirt dresses myself I think yours is the perfect plaid Shirtdress if I have ever seen one. That kind of tartan with those colors is the best and most perfect for Christmas but I think you can wear it other times besides December. And I just wish-listed that Kate Spade bag in red. It is perfect!

Hope you had a very Merry Christmas beautiful Katie!
